QUARTERBACKS
Oh no! - Tom Brady's 125.5 passer rating was lower than the next four on the week 8 Top Fantasy QBs list...but his 2 rushing TDs (combined with 3 passing TDs) had his fantasy owners once again dancing in front of their television sets. Drew Brees finally busted from the basement with a nearly perfect performance on Sunday to give the Saints their 3rd straight victory...Brees threw 4 TDs on the day. Cleveland QB Derek Anderson is making a believer out of many fantasy owners who took him as a flier...Anderson had another solid game in week 8 with a 3 TD showing in St. Louis. It took until overtime on MNF, but Brett Favre still performed his magic with an 82 yard TD bomb to Greg Jennings to defeat the Denver Broncos on the road. Philip Rivers had a "convenience store" week 8 where he went 7 for 11...and was quite efficient with 3 of his passes going for scores. Peyton Manning was average with 250+ passing yards and a couple of touchdowns. Donovan McNabb and Marc Bulger are both having forgettable seasons, but each was able to put up some nice yardage numbers on Sunday.

RUNNING BACKS
NOTE: Interestingly, only 9 RBs managed a TD in week 8...and of those, only 4 had over 70 combined yards. Basically, only one team in three had a running back who scored this past weekend.
As mentioned in the Fantasy Mailbox, Joseph Addai owners need not worry about Kenton Keith...Addai blessed all who listened with 3 TDs and 100 rushing yards in week 8. Brian Westbrook couldn't prove his versatility any better than he did on Sunday...Westy put up 46 rushing yards, 46 receiving yards, one rushing TD, and one receiving TD. Fast Willie Parker loves the Bengals (at least while wearing a Steelers uniform)...Parker busted Cincy for 130+ yards and a score. Kevin Jones' demonstrated in week 8 why he's ready to be one of the top 10 fantasy running backs in the 2nd half of 2007. LenDale White and Brandon Jacobs each rushed for over 130 yards on Sunday. Selvin Young stepped in for an ailing Travis Henry and performed nicely in week 8 - Young and his owners may be getting just a taste of things to come when Henry starts serving his suspension in a couple of weeks. Kenny Watson, Laurence Maroney, Ryan Grant, Reggie Bush, Thomas Jones, and Jesse Chatman all put up some nice combined yardage in week 8, but none of the running backs were able to find the endzone.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Finally! - Marques Colston and the Saints look to be back on track...Colston caught 3 of Brees' 4 TD passes on Sunday in the Saints' 3rd straight victory. Braylon Edwards continued his impressive 2007 with 2 more TDs and 117 receiving yards. Reggie Wayne had a huge game in Carolina with 168 yards and a score...the Colts will need Wayne at home this Sunday against the Pats. Hines Ward climbed out of the freezer with 2 TD grabs against the lowly Bengal D. It was Greg Jennings who had the 82 yard OT TD against the Broncos on MNF. Lee Evans has been invisible...and waited until the weekend before Halloween to put up his best game of the season. Joey Galloway just keeps on giving. Torry Holt was helped by the return of Steven Jackson (for awhile) and the healing of his Rams teammates. James Jones played well on MNF. Wes Welker? - This guy is for real and putting up some huge numbers in New England. T.J. Houshmandzadeh continues to look like the #1 wide receiver in Cincinnati. David Patten and Reggie Brown put up 100+ yard receiving performances, but neither made it across the goalline.

TIGHT ENDS
Antonio Gates is an unbelievably consistent fantasy stud. Gates is "The Best Tight End in Football"...period. After boasting vehemently in preseason, Vernon Davis finally produced in week 8 for the Niners. Greg Olsen has the size, hands, and talent in Chicago - and is quickly placing himself in the ranks of Todd Heap, Jeremy Shockey, and Chris Cooley. Visanthe Shiancoe...are you kidding me? Chris Cooley, Tony Scheffler, Joel Dreessen, and Kellen Winslow each made it into the endzone for a score. Jeff King was a huge part of Carolina's offense against the Colts, but was unable to turn one of his 8 catches into a TD.

News and Notes - The Patriots and the Colts square off in the NFL's biggest non-playoff game in years this weekend in Indy - both teams are undefeated and will likely play each other twice (once this Sunday and once for the AFC Championship at the venue of this weekend's winner in January)...RB Steven Jackson played well and scored early in week 8 prior to suffering back problems (learned later to be a bulged disc) - SJax is hoping to recover in time to play in week 10 after this week's bye...Green Bay's running back situation gets more crowded - Ryan Grant came out of nowhere on MNF and was definitely impressive, but who knows what happens from this point forward in that backfield?...Vince Young has been a horrible fantasy start for many weeks and is no longer worth the roster spot anywhere but in deep keeper leagues - rushing yardage and rushing scores were the only thing putting Young on the FFL map in 2006, but a change in Tennessee's offensive scheme is limiting his running opportunities...Donald Driver hasn't caught a TD since week 3 as veteran Favre seems to be leaning more toward wide receivers with youth and inexperience...Dallas QB Tony Romo signed a 6-year $67.5 contract...Marvin Harrison is fully expected to return for the Colts against New England this Sunday...Kurt Warner practiced on Monday and should be "good to go" in week 9 for the Cardinals.
