Scout.com compiles the HOT 'n COLD players through each week of the NFL season (fantasy owners take note). Check below for a grid of stats & commentary through week 5 and be sure to check back for further updates each week.

QUARTERBACKS

HOT - Tony Romo may have slightly better positive stats, but his 8 INTs are enough to notch him one below Tom Brady. The two top guns go head-to-head on Sunday in a matchup of the unbeatens while Peyton Manning's undefeated Colts get the weekend off. Derek Anderson has played less minutes than the top three on the list and still keeping pace in positive stats...but Anderson has barely a 50% completion percentage with 8 picks. Brett Favre has become a lock every week. Kurt Warner has been hot in limited action this season...with Matt Leinart now out for the season, Warner is the only gun in Arizona and is the hottest waiver pickup of the week.

COLD - Steve McNair may play well when he's in the lineup (and has a great matchup this week), but his oft-injury situation has become a liability. Vince Young is talented...but 62 completions for 583 yards and only 4 scores don't quite cut it. Drew Brees needs to wake up from the nightmare. David Carr is showing why Houston dumped him.

RUNNING BACKS

HOT - Ronnie Brown is busting out some stupid stats and is on pace for mega year-end totals if he keeps pace. Joseph Addai sat out last week and has a week 6 bye. The Pats could be the real test for Marion Barber. LaDainian Tomlinson is inching his way up...look out Oakland, 'cause LT's gonna go off this week. Westy needs to get healthy for week 6. Peterson and Lynch are two fine rookies, but Lynch may have the stats by year's end. Sammy Morris owners aren't encouraging Maroney's return anytime soon...and nobody ever believes Bill Belichick's injury reports.

COLD - Cedric Benson is averaging just 3 yards per carry on 101 runs??? Larry Johnson may see his last week in the cold after he goes off on Cincy this week...but let's wait until we take him out of the fridge. Thomas Jones is unhappy and so are his fantasy owners. Tatum Bell needs a trade to Tampa or he needs another Kevin Jones injury. DeAngelo Williams?...we're waiting for you to bust away from DeShaun Foster, but it ain't happening. Mr. Laurence Maroney...just how hurt are you?

WIDE RECEIVERS

HOT - Finally a slow week for Randy Moss in week 5, but Moss loves the big games. Plaxico Burress is rolling and will burn Atlanta on MNF to pad his stats. T.J. Houshmandzadeh has had his bye week and still leads the league in receptions...he and Chad Johnson are primed for another big game this week against KC. Reggie Wayne and Roy Williams are off this week. Terrell Owens is so good that he's helping teammates Patrick Crayton and Jason Witten with many tosses their way as defenders team up on Owens.

COLD - Marvin Harrison missed week 5 with an injury and is off in week 6 with a bye...sounds like an easy FFL trade pickup. Marques Colston and Devery Henderson are victims of the New Orleans struggle. Donte Stallworth made a dent in his stats in week 5, but needs another solid game to bring him out of the cold.

TIGHT ENDS

HOT - Don't look now, but Dallas Clark has 300 receiving yards...and his 5 TDs have him tied at 3rd in scoring (and he's a tight end!). Like Clark, Antonio Gates and Jason Witten all have top ten receiving stats through week 5. Kellen Winslow is a stud. Benjamin Watson has a whopping 5 TDs and isn't expected to slow as defenses can't decide which Patriot offensive weapon to cover.

COLD - Remember last year's hype on Marcedes Lewis coming out of UCLA? L.J. Smith is close to returning from injury in Philly, but didn't exactly light it up in games 1 and 2 this year.
