Scout.com compiles the HOT 'n COLD players through each week of the NFL season (fantasy owners take note). Check below for a grid of stats & commentary through week 4 and be sure to check back for further updates each week.

QUARTERBACKS

HOT - Tom Brady still has an incredible passer rating and stays on pace to break Peyton Manning's TD record set just 2 years ago, but Tony Romo has a slight lead in postitive fantasy stats with his 2 rushing TDs and a few more yards. Carson Palmer has an upcoming needed bye in week 5. Peyton Manning is quietly keeping pace and a big game against the Bucs could put him up with Romo and Brady. Daunte Culpepper busted out in his first start with 5 total TDs, but C-pep has a week 5 bye.

COLD - David Garrard and Jason Campbell just aren't quite getting it done in Jacksonville and Washington. Marc Bulger is out this week to rest his broken ribs...yielding Gus Frerotte the start in St. Louis. Matt Leinart is splitting time with veteran Kurt Warner. Drew Brees is back and hoping this is the last week on the COLD list after his week 4 bye.

RUNNING BACKS

HOT - Joseph Addai leads all stats for running backs, but Addai is banged up for week 5 and could be a gametime decision. Ronnie Brown has been so hot lately that he's on fire (he's basically carrying the Dolphins). Brian Westbrook has a much needed injury healing bye this weekend. LaDainian Tomlinson had a solid week 4 and is finally starting to groove after a slow start. Earnest Graham will take over in Tampa Bay for Cadillac Williams and will be a top waiver wire grab. As of this writing, Travis Henry is the topic of an alledged failed drug test...if true, he most certainly will be issued a one-year suspension and Selvin Young becomes an instant fantasy stud in Denver.

COLD - Cedric Benson and Julius Jones just aren't up to expectations, but both had better stats in week 4 and are attempting to turn things around. Ditto with Larry Johnson, but LJ is still without a TD despite his 359 yards from scrimmage. Ahman Green is hoping to overcome his injuries and a personal tragedy to start in week 5 and get back on track. Steven Jackson is still out and who knows what is up with New England's Laurence Maroney?!? Stay away from the Jacksonville backfield of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew.

WIDE RECEIVERS

HOT - Update: Randy Moss is now on a projected pace of 124 catches for 2020 yards and 28 TDs (the leading wide receiver totals last year were 1370 yards and 13 TDs). Plaxico Burress is a scoring machine! T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson are tearing it up in the Bengal passing game with a collecitve 67 catches for 855 yards and 8 TDs through 4 games...but Cincy gets a bye this week and Housh/Chad fantasy owners will need to find other options in week 5. Steve Smith's numbers may suffer due to the loss of injured QB Jake Delhomme. Dwayne Bowe is a rookie here to stay in Kansas City.

COLD - Marvin Harrison struggled through 5 weeks last season as well, but at least Harrison was still healthy at this point in 2006...Marvin may not play this week. Larry Fitzgerald had a better week 4, but still hasn't crossed the goalline. Marques Colston comes off a week 4 bye looking to right the ship. The rest of these guys are hurting your fantasy teams (esp. those projecting Donte Stallworth and Lee Evans to have big seasons)...both hope to become more involved in their offenses in week 5, but Evans has a tough matchup.

TIGHT ENDS

HOT - Dallas Clark had 2 TD grabs in week 4 and he may continue to be a huge favorite of Peyton Manning with Marvin Harrison banged up. Antonio Gates is always a stud...and his 33 catches are more than impressive through 4 games. Jason Witten, Kellen Winslow, Tony Gonzalez, Benjamin Watson, and Todd Heap are the cream of the crop at the tight end position...and their numbers prove it. However, Heap may miss week 5 with an injury and his status needs to be watched closely prior to giving him the nod this week.

COLD - Vernon Davis is still hurt, but hasn't been totally ruled out this week. Upon his return, Davis will need to really kick things in gear to match his preseason predictions. Randy McMichael and Daniel Graham are no longer worth a roster spot unless your fantasy league requires a tight end.
