Panthers QB Cam Newton not fully healthy

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is still recovering from offseason surgery. Fantasy owners beware yet mindful of his ADP. He could fall into a real value position.

ESPN's Carolina Panthers beat writer David Newton described QB Cam Newton as 'looking rusty' on the first day of training camp. He also noted a "scary moment came when Newton walked away with a slight limp after stepping into a throw that wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery dropped." Newton is recovering from an offseason surgery to repair loose ligaments in his ankle.

Fantasy Analysis

The situation with Newton isn't too concerning. It seems he is healed up enough to practice, but isn't 100% yet which is normal for players that had surgical procedures in the offseason. He can be considered a low-end QB1 but may not meet expectations with a lack of WR prospects. The ankle and WR chemistry are something to monitor throughout camp.
